Privacy Policy
Your privacy, and the privacy of your bird(s) is of paramount importance to us. In no way is any of your personal or shopping history information shared in any way with anyone. Credit card or any other financial information is only retained long enough to process payments. Credit card numbers can also be kept "on file" for those who do not wish to use their credit cards online. Simply call and give us your card information and we will maintain it "offline" and you can order using PhoneFax as your payment option.
Cookies: Many people are worried about cookies and other measures involved in ecommerce websites like the Birdsafe Store. Our website uses two types of cookies. In order to maintain your shopping information (after you sign in and add items to your shopping cart) the software uses what are called session cookies to remember your items, which are stored on your computer as long as you are the store, or even if you leave the site for less than 20 minutes and return. Once you have left the store or been inactive for 20 minutes or more, or closed your browser, these are removed from your system. Other functions of our website, such as the LiveHelp system also use cookies for these functions to properly operate. Cookie information can be viewed through your individual browser.
Returns Policy
The safety of birds is of prime importance here at the Birdsafe Store. With that in mind, items that cannot be sterilized cannot be accepted for return. This includes toys, food, and parts that have been opened and/or brought into an environment with birds. Most of you would not want to receive goods that had been exposed to other birds previously. If your package has not been brought into your bird area, and items are in their original packaging, we will consider these on a case-by-case basis. In any case, you must contact us prior to a return, and all returns must be within 30 days of the date of your package delivery. Please see our Returns Page for more information. Returns must be handled in the manner we prescribe. Returns without getting an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) are subject to a 10-percent fee.
Cages and large playstands are not returnable except for damaged units. Large direct-ship items, such as large food bags, may be subject to a restocking fee per the vendor. Returns for credit back to a credit card are subject to a 5-percent fee. Special order items and custom perches are not returnable, unless a mistake was made on our part.
Order Cancellations
Orders can be canceled any time before they have shipped. However, orders canceled after midnight of the day they were placed are subject to a 5-percent cancelation fee (unless an item is not able to be shipped within 48 hours). This is because that as of midnight all orders are "captured" and this incurs per-item transaction fees as well as percentage charges by the credit card companies; as well as the cancelation (or refund) itself incurring another fee. Orders can be voided without additional charge up to midnight of the same day as the order.Orders that are paying by telephone or check -- these payments must be received in no more than 7 business days or the order will be cancelled.
Cage Terms & Conditions
Cages are not returnable except for reason of manufacturer defect. Color representations are meant to give an idea of the approximate color of the cage, subsequent runs of paint on cages may vary slightly. Cages by size and color are subject to availability. Shipping costs online are an estimate only based on the weight of the cage, the number of boxes, the shipping method, and the "zone" of the country you are located in. Actual shipping charges can be obtained prior to ordering and will be provided before an order is fulfilled. The cage manufacturer will take care of any defects or damages in shipping. If a cage box appears to be damaged upon delivery, you must "accept delivery as damaged" on the shipping paperwork from the carrier and contact us for further instructions. The Birdsafe Store makes no warranty on cages beyond offering the manufacturer warranty, and we make no claims as to the complete safety of a cage with any specific bird. A bird owner should know their bird and purchase any items appropriately.
Price/Shipping Mistakes
We also reserve the right to correct prices that have been calculated as grossly wrong due to a computer or electronic malfunction, though never charge more than the standard non-sale prices. This includes errors due to customers entering incorrect shipping address information, and inability to read correct shipping charges from FedEx or USPS servers. If your order indicates "No Shipping Necessary" or during checkout, there is any type of message which indicates that the "Backup shipping method is being used," we reserve the right to adjust your charges accordingly, but will only do so after getting your authorization via phone or email first. This also includes correcting errors due to miscalculations of coupon or gift certificate discounts if the amount calculated is more than the intended and programmed amount.
We also reserve the right to issue a full refund for items we have failed to ship or cannot ship due to shortages rather than send them separately.
Food Ingredient Issues
From time to time food manufacturers change ingredients, and sometimes they note the changes on their packaging and other times they don't. The Birdsafe Store cannot be held responsible for changes in ingredients when we are not made aware by the manufacturer or distributor of these changes. When we know changes are made, we update the site, but we cannot -- nor should anyone assume that we can -- check each package of food that comes in to see if the ingredients match what we have listed on the website. This also goes to size issues of certain food items -- from time to time the weight of a particular ingredient may change dramatically, thus changing the net weight of a food item while giving you the same "volume." This is especially true of Just Organic Fruits and Veggies as well as Goldenfeast food items. A "medium" jar's weight may fluctuate up or down and yet the price be the same. The Birdsafe Store will ship you the correct size that you ordered, but we cannot be held responsible for fluctuating weights of those items.
Shipping Policy
We prepare and ship orders via the shipping method chosen by the customer. Customers must keep in mind that once a package is noted in tracking information as "delivered," the Birdsafe Store can no longer accept any responsibility for that package (if it gets lost, stolen, etc.). Customers must then work with the carrier (FedEx or USPS) concerning the shipment. If tracking does not show that the package has been delivered to the address provided by the customer, the Birdsafe Store will replace any item(s) that do not get delivered. To make a claim against this policy, you must notify us within 15 calendar days from the expected date of delivery.
Payment Issues
We reserve the right not to accept orders from "Unverified" PayPal accounts. Any bounced checks or returned PayPal payments will be subject to a $35.00 collections fee. Orders using PayPal or Credit cards are "processed" when you place your order. Since The Birdsafe Store assumes shipping charges due to backorder situations, we reserve the right to charge your card immediately even if an item is delayed in shipping. Order cancellations due to backorders or delays in shipping from Direct Ship vendors are not accessed any cancellation fees.
Representations by Other Websites
Birdsafe.com and The Birdsafe Store cannot be held responsible for information that is incorrectly posted on other websites. If other websites say we offer certain coupons or sales that either no longer exist or never did exist, we are not required to honor those coupons or sales. Similarly, if you have found our site from some search engine or shopping site by searching for "Free shipping", if a specific advertisement or offer written by the Birdsafe Store does not offer such free shipping, we are not required to honor that claim.
