Every year at this time one of the biggest questions/concerns we get concerns your bird food being overheated during the shipping process. Here are some things to consider:
- Regardless of the shipper used, your package does not sit out in a parked truck at any given point. Trucks carrying packages are either constantly on the move, or brought inside overnight. They do not sit outside in a parked truck. FedEx delivery trucks are brought inside their terminals at night, and with any undelivered packages by USPS are brought back into the delivery post office.
- The only real place you need to worry about your package being overheated is after it is delivered to your home. This is especially important if you have a parcel locker outside
Here are some tips:
- Make sure you keep an eye on tracking. At the Birdsafe Store we provide you with emails all along the way - Order Shipped - Order Out for Delivery - Delivered. Make sure you are getting those emails!
- Sign up for USPS Informed Delivery and FedEx Delivery Manager - they can help you with all your deliveries by those carriers
- Use a PO Box for delivery - packages stay cool and are ready for pickup at your convenience
- Use a FedEx Hold location - during checkout you can opt to have packages sent to a FedEx location for you to pick up - many Walgreens, Dollar General stores, FedEx locations will accept your packages for free! - and you can save money with commercial shipping rates
